Some impairment can be removed permanently or partially by corrective surgeries. Normally corrective surgeries are detected and advised at an early age of the physically impaired child. However, in case of candidates falling under economically backward class, it is observed that illiteracy, fear and risk, kept the parents of the ward away from early detection as well as corrective treatment.
The Foundation counsels the parents and their ward for corrective surgery with the help of medical social workers and specialist doctors. After getting their mind set ready for the surgery, renowned surgeons at renowned hospitals conduct their surgeries.
Step two is allowing adequate time for post-operative healing and recovery. Also, we counsel the parents and their wards in this process.
Corrective Surgeries most of the times comprise of implants, straightening of bones and cosmetic part etc. It involves a lot of risk and huge costs too. So, special fund raising for the project begins well in advance and we try to accomplish it successfully. Lot of research goes behind post-operative risk factors, best possible surgeons before initiating such projects.
We are in the process of earmarking a fixed fund for this portfolio to increase its reach to more and more candidates.
For early detection and treatment, creating awareness amongst people is necessary. We are in the process of developing a special team for this.
