Gurukul: A Vision for Empowerment and Inclusivity
Gurukul
Make My Dream Foundation has embarked on an ambitious project, “Gurukul: An Independent Beginning,” aimed at creating a transformative environment for individuals with physical disabilities. This initiative will provide a comprehensive, supportive, and inclusive residential facility to enhance the quality of life and foster self-reliance among its residents.
Theme and Philosophy
Founded by Medha Kulkarni, who herself is physically challenged, Gurukul embodies her vision of an inclusive and supportive environment. Having experienced both the challenges and opportunities of living with a disability, Medha Kulkarni aims to create a space where physical disabilities do not hinder dreams or potential.
The core philosophy of Gurukul is to build mental strength, willpower, and self-confidence in its residents. By integrating values of self-reliance and offering a nurturing environment, Gurukul seeks to empower children with physical disabilities to achieve their goals and lead fulfilling lives.
Project Details
Gurukul provides a nurturing and inclusive home for individuals with physical disabilities, empowering them to build self-confidence, dignity, and independence for a fulfilling life.
This all inclusive Residential Facility will be situated on a 1-acre land near Pune City, encompassing approximately 35,000 square feet of construction space. The facility will have capacity to accommodate around 60 candidates, of any gender from economically disadvantaged backgrounds with diversified disability, along with necessary caretakers, housekeepers, security personnel, medical staff, teachers, and management.
Inclusive Residential Facility

1. Accessible Infrastructure with Impact
Fully accessible buildings, transport, and advanced equipment create a model campus, inspiring inclusive infrastructure across India for multiple disabilities.
2. Inclusive Amenities & Training
Campus offers skill training, prosthetics, therapy, Braille library, music, eco-programs, ensuring holistic growth for personal, physical, and vocational development.
3. Comprehensive Health & Mobility
Gurukul provides operative care, physiotherapy, mobility vehicles, swimming pool, and recovery units to support health, independence, and active rehabilitation.
4. Broader Educational Integration
Students attend nearby mainstream institutions, fostering inclusion, breaking social barriers, and promoting awareness between differently-abled and able-bodied peers.

5. Sustainability as a Core Value
Campus uses solar energy, water recycling, biogas, and horticulture to build eco-awareness and teach green skills for sustainable living.
6. Dignity Through Income Generation
Customized projects empower severely disabled individuals to earn, fostering dignity, financial independence, self-worth, and meaningful contribution to society with long-term sustainability.
7. Community Awareness and Outreach
Frequent camps offer early diagnosis, guidance, and support, helping communities recognize treatable disabilities early and ensuring timely, effective intervention and assistance.
8. Quality Without Compromise
Services remain inclusive, high-standard, and unbiased—never diluted by funding gaps or economic pressures, ensuring dignity and fairness for every individual.

Vision: I am possible
We envision a future where every individual with a disability dreams big, becoming leaders, achievers, and even astronauts,
with no place for the word “impossible” in their vocabulary.
